#TGIF! - It's been a busy week in the green industry! Here are some highlights— ? ?? President & CEO, Ken Fisher, joined other principals of the Agricultural Workforce Coalition in a meeting with USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack to discuss the Farm Labor Survey and other topics.? ?? On Tuesday, AmericanHort became a co-plaintiff in a lawsuit against USDOL regarding the recent H-2A rule.? ?? VP of Marketing & Member Engagement, Mary Beth Cowardin, attended the Proven Winners Roadshow in Cincinnati and learned about programs coming up in 2025. ?? VP of Advocacy & Government Affairs, Matt Mika, spent several days with industry state execs from the western states discussing numerous topics, including hearing from a crop insurance expert. ?? Oregon Association of Nurseries Board President, Amanda Staehely, attends a Farmer’s Ranchers in Action event at the White House where they talked about conservation and the climate. ?? Advocacy Project Coordinator, Kamron Newberry, attended the American Society of Landscape Architects conference and expo in the nation’s capital and saw several AmericanHort members, including Ryan Doty of Doty Nursery and Nancy Buley and Frank Holgerson from J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. ?? And Nursery Landscape Association Executives (NLAE) from across the country met via Zoom to talk about the best ways to support our members and the industry during times of crisis, such as the recent hurricane disasters. ? AmericanHort is a co-plaintiff in a Lawsuit filed against USDOL Regarding the Recent H-2A Rule. Quote from Ken Fisher, AmericanHort President & CEO: “The DOL rule represents a regulatory overreach that ignores both legislative and judicial precedent. It imposes serious limitations on farm employers’ abilities to run their businesses while erecting barriers for those same employers to communicate with their employees. Our members depend on a reliable, legal workforce, and they deserve access to the H-2A program without facing excessive costs and red tape. By joining this lawsuit, we are standing up for a fair, balanced program that ensures our industry’s survival and success.
