Today's #studentspotlight is on Harmehak Kaur, a second-year podiatric medical student at Samuel Merritt University College of Podiatric Medicine, who shares what she loves most about foot and ankle surgery: What interests me most about foot and ankle surgery is the ability to improve a patient's mobility and quality of life. My own experience with plantar fasciitis at 13 showed me how impactful effective treatment can be, inspiring me to help others in the same way. The complexity of foot and ankle anatomy fascinates me, and I enjoy the challenge of performing precise surgeries to restore function. It is a direct opportunity to make a difference in someone's life. My shadowing experience with a doctor specializing in foot and ankle medicine in a third-world country highlighted the importance of this care, even in challenging conditions. This reinforced my commitment to ensure patients feel heard and understood.?
