‘Tis the season for travel! ??The days surrounding Thanksgiving make up the busiest travel period of the year in the U.S., helping to bring loved ones together. To manage the holiday influx, airports need a focus on early planning and infrastructure development to reduce the stress of the season. What makes travel operations run smoothly? The key is preplanning and adaptability to changing conditions. Designing scalable infrastructure and facilities to handle peak travel times ensures smoother operations and a better experience for travelers. The AID team has extensive experience with preplanning and efficiency-focused projects, helping airports stay ahead of the rush during key travel times. As the holidays approach, remember to plan ahead.

#VeteransDay is a time to honor the courageous men and women who have served in our armed forces, reminding us of the freedoms we enjoy because of their dedication and sacrifice. At AID, we’re proud to recognize some of our own team members who have served our country. ???? Sammy Dandy dedicated 12.5 years to the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant in the Electronic Security Command, specializing as a Morse Systems Operator. ???? We’re also proud to spotlight the Florence family. Louis Florence served 25 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His son Kevin Florence followed, serving as a 1st Lieutenant Engineer Officer in the Army Reserves. ???? Our gratitude extends to the families who have supported both our team and our country. VP of Architecture Chip Hayward and his father, 91-year-old Lt. Colonel Hayward, former Commander of the Tampa Marine Corps 4th Amtrak Battalion, celebrated 249 years of the Marine Corps. Happy Veterans Day to all, and heartfelt thanks to our veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice!

Landing in a new city, what’s the first thing you see? The inside of an airport! Aviation is the primary mode of transportation for many, and the airport serves as the gateway connecting travelers to their destinations. As a full-service architecture, engineering and construction management firm, we’re passionate about helping clients recognize the vital role that design plays in shaping each terminal. Whether travelers are waiting to take off or arriving, the airport’s design should not only accommodate passenger convenience, but should also reflect the area the airport serves. This offers a look into the culture they’re about to experience, as the terminal is a major gateway to the community. As an A/E firm, we focus on executing design plans and other logistics at every project but our passion for detail also allows us to offer assets in creating spaces that leave a lasting impression.

Meet AID team member Carrie King, our amazing Proposal Manager! Since joining us in July, Carrie has been leading RFQ/RFP responses and strategic pursuits. With extensive professional writing and editing experience under her belt, she is no stranger to conquering proposals. When she’s not immersed in proposals, Carrie’s hanging out with her two daughters and her adorable black pug, Zeke. She’s all about music, reading, gardening, working out and traveling to new places (her love for aviation holds no bounds!). And here’s a fun fact: if you can make her laugh, you’ll be fast friends! We’re grateful to have you on the team, Carrie!

This hurricane season has showcased the importance of proactive preparation. Prioritizing pre-hurricane plans can make all the difference – especially as we prepare for Hurricane Milton. As an aviation architecture and engineering firm headquartered in Tampa, Florida, we are uniquely positioned to anticipate challenges and implement strategic solutions that help support operations during severe weather. Three important practices to consider include: 1?? Prioritize resilient design: Reinforced structures, stormwater management systems and backup power solutions are crucial but often overlooked in emergency situations. 2?? Emphasize clear signage: Proper wayfinding for passengers during both normal and emergency operations can make all the difference in maintaining order. 3?? Rapid response: Having a team of A/E professionals on standby to assess facilities, runways and critical infrastructure immediately after a storm helps get airports back up and running quickly. AID also has in-house Part 107 licensed drone pilots to perform pre- and post-storm site documentation for recovery and insurance related claims. We hope everyone stays safe and takes precautions during this time.
