As CEO, I am responsible for culture. It is my duty to take care of my own and keep them healthy. Here are some hot takes on typical events. - Drinking. Makes you feel bad and construction already has a high suicide rate. - Late night/weekend events. Makes people stay away from their families and community. I kept everyone on payroll, showed them appreciation, and supported an art project. Everyone was home by 5pm. Did you know art therapy is proven to reduce stress and and help create purpose in life?! It’s almost shocking that American Solar & Roofing has been installing solar systems in Arizona for nearly 25 years. Like when I say “nearly 25 years in business”, I kinda pause and pinch myself. We were the first to grid-tie a residential solar system into the City of Phoenix and the City of Scottsdale and we installed the first utility solar power plant for Arizona Public Service - APS. One cool thing about being 25 years old, we can serve past customers like this one. This customer, originally installed in 2005, is in #Scottsdale with an SMA Solar Technology AG SB6000U and 30 #Kyocera 175’s! It is fully operational; Shoutout to #SMA and I miss you Kyocera. Never had a roof leak and now she is just ready to upgrade. I love seeing this stuff! If you have made it this far in the post… Here is a funny/real business fact. When the founders of #American were asked by a business advisor back in the day, “how will you make money from your return customers in the future?” their response “our solar will last forever…what do you mean” the founders didn’t think about what 10-15 years down the road could look like. There is a difference between a “Founder CEO” and a “CEO that Scales”…. Both are valuable but the Founder needs to know when to let go of the vine and let another CEO join the company and scale it. As we watch the residential solar industry suffer, what CEOs are in charge?
