American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) is the leading professional engineering society for engineers, scientists and allied professionals who conceive, design, develop, test, construct, outfit, operate and maintain complex naval and maritime ships, submarines and aircraft and their associated systems and subsystems. The seventh oldest technical society in the United States, it was founded in 1888 by a group of naval engineering pioneers, most of them officers of the U.S. Navy's Engineering Corps, who sought a unified approach to their profession in order to make the most of new advances in technology. ASNE also serves the educators who train the professionals, researchers who develop related technology, and students who are preparing for the profession. Society activities provide support for the U.S. Navy; U.S. Coast Guard; U.S. Marine Corps; U.S. Merchant Marine and U.S. Army. Expanding the Talent Pipeline by Helping Your Business ASNE Professional Development Webinar The U.S. Navy's Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) program includes the Talent Pipeline Project (TPP). The goal of the TPP is to help companies create a wave of skilled workers joining the Maritime Industrial Base. The TPPs are critical to the Navy's efforts to recapitalize its submarine fleet and maintain a strong, resilient industrial base. The TPP supports organizations through a rigorous process that focuses on lean manufacturing, value-add processes, and worker experiences (including a World-Class First Day). The webinar will be recorded and available for three weeks after the live presentation on October 15. All participants earn 1.0 PDH and ASNE members can get credit for these hours for free! ASNE Professional Development Course: Intro to Combat Systems Engineering Course Description: - Introduction to Combat System Engineering introduces participants to the overarching DoD system engineering processes and uses history and heritage to advance student understanding. - The course is structured to cover basic combat system engineering and fire control principles, from top-level requirements to allocated requirements to design requirements to combat system functions and associated design specifications, using historical examples from gunnery to air defense. - This context-delivered approach improves the critical thinking required to engineer a complex system to meet always-advancing threat requirements. - Participants have the opportunity to apply the skills they've learned in the classroom through independent exercises and group discussion.
