Are you a nurse passionate about advocacy, reproductive rights and thinking about applying to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine - ASRM PRIMED program? Don’t miss your opportunity and apply today! Link in the comments- applications due Dec 2. Read the testimonial below of NPG member Ann Marie Luft and her experience being part of the inaugural cohort. “In my years as a fertility nurse, I have seen patients who have great coverage to those who have zero coverage for care. I have seen people do remarkable things to make the family of their dreams come true. While no one has ever come back to say they regretted doing fertility care, it put a huge financial burden on their blossoming family. Why is there such disparity for fertility coverage? How can I, as a nurse, do anything about changing the system? It seemed an impossible feat that would be best left to "others." As a child, I put down "Senator" as what I wanted to be when I grew up. At the time, I had no idea what it takes to be an elected official, but I knew I wanted to make a difference. I have always had a great sense of empathy, justice and advocacy. When I saw the posting for the ASRM PRIMED Scholars Program, I was intrigued. I was worried because I had zero experience in advocacy that I would not be a good candidate. I learned how a bill becomes a law from a singing scroll of paper on Saturday mornings. What I learned is that I had much to bring to the table regardless of my lack of knowledge of the complicated legislative process. I had thoughts, ideas and passion for the fertility world and I want to make it better for all. If you feel the same way, apply to the PRIMED program. You have a voice, PRIMED will give you the microphone.”
