Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is called a “silent pandemic” because of the way it lurks, unnoticed and underdiscussed, while wreaking havoc and claiming lives. But how can something so big be so quiet? And how can we turn up the volume? This new article explores these questions, featuring insights from Anirban Mahapatra, Diane Flayhart and Ella Balasa. ?? https://brnw.ch/21wNzuo #antimicrobialresistance #infection #pandemic

NIH is considering changes to its policies for postdoctoral fellowships, including limiting post-doctoral appointments to 5 years, revising the K99/R00 mechanism and increasing training opportunities for postdoctoral trainees and mentors. ASM is soliciting feedback from our members about how these recommendations would impact them and their work. The responses to this survey will be used to formulate ASM's response to the NIH’s request for information. Contribute to ASM's response?? https://brnw.ch/21wNjRq

Today marked the end of the 3-day inaugural ASM Global Research Symposium! Hosted in partnership with Tsinghua University in Beijing, the event brought experts and scholars from all over the world together to share knowledge about how microbes can shape the future of human health. The program featured an extensive array of presentations that explored innovations in clinical microbiology, bacterial and viral pathogenesis, pathogen-host dynamics and vaccines and therapeutics. Attendees had the opportunity to expand their networks, present their research and explore collaborations within the scientific community. In addition to esteemed scientists from Tsinghua (including Jing-Ren Zhang, Ph.D., pictured below) and other Chinese and international institutions, ASM CEO Stefano Bertuzzi, Ph.D., and ASM President Theresa Koehler, Ph.D., were on-site to present and engage with symposium attendees. Editors and staff from ASM Journals were also in attendance, fostering connections and providing insights on scientific publishing. View the full program and scientific session abstracts! https://brnw.ch/21wNfMG We’re also excited to announce that the ASM Global Research Symposium will return to China next year, and we’re expanding to a new location—India! Stay tuned for more information. #ASMJournals #ASMSymposium #TsinghuaASM2024 #ASMGRS2024
