Delivering essentials, developing opportunities.

关于我们

ARAHA is a non-profit organization based in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. We Work in the Horn of Africa region to Deliver Essentials and Develop Opportunities. Vision: A stable, sustainable, and thriving Horn of Africa. Mission: To strive to alleviate the suffering from hunger, illiteracy, diseases, and poverty in the Horn of Africa, as well as help the east African community in Minnesota. Why the Horn of Africa? The Horn of Africa has become the land of hunger, war, famine, and disease. The Horn of Africa is considered one of the poorest regions in the world, and ongoing droughts continue to plague this region. Long wars and ethnic conflicts have further complicated the already deplorable situation. The most recent United Nations studies estimate that 16 million people in the Horn of Africa are in urgent need of food and other humanitarian assistance.

It's always exciting when an alum becomes a community partner! Recently, Muna Scekomar '18 visited Todd Deutsch's Photography and Digital Storytelling class to share about ARAHA (American Relief Agency for the Horn of Africa), which works to restore stability and self-reliance to communities in the Horn of Africa. Students in this class are working with ARAHA to create fundraising materials emphasizing the dignity and individuality of people needing support. Thank you for visiting, Muna! #mystkates

On this World Humanitarian Day, we honor the bravery and dedication of humanitarian workers across the globe who risk their lives to help those in need especially our team in Sudan. Since the war erupted, ARAHA has been on the frontlines, working relentlessly to provide food, medical supplies, and other essential aid. The lack of humanitarian corridors has made their mission incredibly difficult, forcing them to navigate dangerous territories without the safety and support these corridors would typically offer. As our Sudan Field Director, OSMAN SULIMAN poignantly stated, "The delivery of life-saving essentials has been hindered by security issues, putting both our staff and the people we serve at constant risk." One of the most significant setbacks occurred when ARAHA's Feeding Center in Wadi Madani had to be suspended after the city was overtaken. Yet, this setback did not deter the resolve of our team. Demonstrating remarkable resilience and commitment, the Feeding Center was relocated to Kassala, where it now supports over 3,000 people, providing a lifeline to those struggling to survive in these dire circumstances. Recent developments have brought a glimmer of hope. Mediators, including the United Nations and the African Union, have welcomed new pledges from the warring parties to improve humanitarian access across Sudan. These commitments are crucial for ensuring that aid can reach the most vulnerable populations, offering a much-needed lifeline amidst the ongoing conflict On this World Humanitarian Day, we ask for your support. Join ARAHA’s Sudan Relief Campaign and help us support our heroes fulfill their visions. Together, we can bring hope to those who need it most. https://lnkd.in/gVN_NjYF

It was a beautiful morning when 30 beneficiaries in Shagrab refugee camp had their lives changed by receiving their first wheelchairs. Prior to this distribution, these beneficiaries relied on their families to transport them wherever they needed to go, limiting their mobility and participation in activities. Now, with their newfound independence, they can enjoy greater freedom. This initiative was made possible by a generous donation from one of our supporters. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for granting us the opportunity to bring joy to those in need.
