Our LINDLEY ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL AT BIRNEY scholars have truly embarked on an exciting journey with WILD THINGS PRESERVE as they build their biome dioramas while diving deep into the study of ecosystems! They've learned how ecosystems function and why they are crucial to our planet's health, the origins of life, and the evolutionary process. As part of their experience, the kids interacted with millipedes, isopods, and roaches, with many daring to pet a hissing cockroach on the very first day! Leonardo the Terrapin also stopped by to demonstrate how some animals can thrive both on land and in water, connecting perfectly with their creative task of painting the terrestrial and aquatic sections of their dioramas. Last week, #AmericanParadigmSchools CEO Ashley Redfearn Neswick had the opportunity to speak to Philadelphia City Council members regarding the declaration of February 24 as “Nikola Tesla Science Foundation Day.” As the Volunteer Director of Education for the TESLA SCIENCE FOUNDATION, Redfearn highlighted the incredible impact Nikola Tesla had on science and technology. We’re truly inspired by Tesla’s passion for knowledge and his belief that inventions should help people, not just aim for profit. As we implement significant shifts in science standards, our educators collaborate with the Pennsylvania Science Education Leaders (PennSEL) Network. Together, we’re working to create a transformative experience in science teaching and learning throughout our community.
