This Women's History Month, we celebrate Mary Ann Bickerdyke – a pioneering nurse who revolutionized battlefield medicine during the Civil War! When this middle-aged widow from Illinois delivered charity funds to Union hospitals, she was shocked by what she saw: wounded soldiers suffering with little to no care. Instead of walking away, Mary Ann rolled up her sleeves and become the nurse known as a battlefield angel. Her exceptional dedication earned such respect that General William T. Sherman made her the ONLY woman permitted to travel with his army. At the Battle of Lookout Mountain, she acted as the sole nurse for over 2,000 soldiers – a testament to her extraordinary strength and commitment. Mary Ann Bickerdyke reminds us of The Power of Nursing?. She didn't just save countless lives – she blazed a trail for generations of nurses who continue her tradition of courage, compassion, innovation and relentless dedication to healthcare. #WomensHistoryMonth #NursingHeroes #ThePowerOfNurses

"Thank you, certified nurses, for your commitment to patients and lifelong learning. Your certification is a testament to your advanced knowledge, expertise, and competency in your specialty. Research indicates that units with more certified nurses achieve better patient outcomes, including lower rates of CLABSI, CAUTI, and skin issues. Certification is more than passing an exam one time—it’s a commitment to maintaining your knowledge and increasing your skills through continued professional development. Thank you for the impact you make every day. Happy #CertifiedNursesDay!” - Holly Ma, DNP MS RN NPD-BC, Vice President Nursing Professional Development, Practice, and Research, University Hospitals of Cleveland #ANCCcertified #PowerOfNurses
