For five years, the University of Rochester Medical Center has offered living-donor liver transplants for patients whose colorectal cancer has spread to the liver. Matthew Byrne, MD, surgery resident at URMC, was part of a group who looked back over those five years and found that transplant prolongs patients’ lives, giving them more time with family.
