Only those who have endured Hamas captivity can truly understand the horrors that the remaining hostages continue to face in Gaza. Seven former hostages—Eli Sharabi, Doron Steinbrecher, Keith Siegel, Aviva Siegel, Naama Levy, Omer Shem Tov, and Iair Horn—are traveling to Washington, D.C. this week, to meet with U.S. officials. They will share firsthand accounts of the atrocities they suffered and stress the urgent need to bring the remaining?hostages?home. https://lnkd.in/g2RCwvYm

59 hostages remain in Hamas captivity. For nearly 17 months, those still alive have been held in dark tunnels in Gaza—starving and enduring unimaginable abuse. They are moms and dads, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, and grandparents. We must do everything possible to secure their immediate?release. ajc.org/BringThemHome

Roughly half of Jewish students who saw anti-Israel campus demonstrations or encampments since the October 7 Hamas massacre say that they made them feel unsafe on campus. When universities allow antisemitism to fester, all students lose out. Read more in our State of Antisemitism in America 2024 Report, in collaboration with Hillel International. https://lnkd.in/g4zsBaa3

Shalom Aleichem means “peace be upon you.” It’s the song Jews around the world sing every week to welcome Shabbat. Daniella Gilboa was held hostage for 477 days. Her captors forbade her from singing in Hebrew, so each Shabbat, she sang Shalom Aleichem in Arabic. There are still 59 hostages in Gaza. We continue to pray for their safe return. Daniella refused to lose hope—neither will we. Shabbat Shalom.

Tsahi Idan was kidnapped alive from his home in Kibbutz Nahal Oz on October 7, his daughter Maayan’s blood still on his hands. She was shot by Hamas terrorists and died in his arms. She and Tsahi had been holding the safe room door shut, desperately trying to protect their family. Hamas live-streamed their ordeal. On Wednesday, after nearly 16 months in captivity, Tsahi’s body was returned to Israel. Today, his family said their final goodbyes as he was laid to rest. We cannot begin to imagine the pain his family has endured. May his memory be a blessing.

Itzik Elgarat was shot by Hamas terrorists and kidnapped from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz. His brother, Danny, was on the phone with him when the attack unfolded. From the moment Danny saw Itzik’s phone traced to Gaza, he fought tirelessly to bring him home. We are heartbroken that Danny never got to reunite with his brother and that Itzik's sons can never hug their dad again. After nearly 16 months, Itzik’s body was finally returned to Israel. May his memory be a blessing.
