This heinous act is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by Jewish communities worldwide, even in places committed to fostering tolerance and coexistence. Israeli authorities have classified this as an antisemitic terrorist attack and reports of alleged Iranian involvement are particularly alarming. Our hearts go out to Rabbi Kogan's family and the Jewish community in the UAE during this tragic time. We thank the Emirati authorities for their commitment to the safety and wellbeing of Jewish residents and visitors from around the world. The perpetrators must be brought to swift justice.

We thank President Biden for showing moral clarity by ordering a U.S. veto of this UNSC resolution. There can be no ceasefire without the release of all of the hostages. The UNSC should not be considering a resolution that does not make explicit mention of that fact.

At the behest of AJC, European ministers convened an emergency meeting this morning to address the alarming rise in antisemitism on the continent, following the recent pogrom in Amsterdam. AJC Europe Director Simone Rodan was the sole representative of any Jewish organization to participate in the meeting. She outlined AJC's recommendations for urgent and immediate steps European countries must take to combat anti-Jewish hate.
