A win for the domestic OCTG industry as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency has issued a positive, final determination in its investigation against Thai OCTG exporters, found to be transshipping Chinese OCTG through Thailand to avoid paying duties, exceeding $250 million. These unlawful practices threaten the competitiveness and viability of the American OCTG industry, including our member companies?in?the U.S. OCTG Manufacturers Association (USOMA), which filed the allegation that launched the Customs Enforce and Protect Act investigation. As chairman of USOMA, I am pleased to see the positive ruling, which serves as a tool of defense against unfair trade practices and protects American jobs. We encourage Customs to continue taking decisive action against those that refuse to play by the rules.??We, our member companies, will continue to serve the U.S. energy industry with the highest quality products driven by a dedicated American workforce.
