Here is post #1 of 2: FEMA and financial assistance: FEMA's Individuals and Households Program assistance has been authorized through a Major Disaster Declaration approved by President Joe Biden on Saturday, Oct. 12. Funds can go directly to homeowners and renters. According to FEMA, the help may include: ? Funds for temporary housing while you are unable to live in your home, such as rental assistance or reimbursement for hotel costs ? Funds to support the repair or replacement of owner-occupied homes that serve as the household’s primary residence, including privately-owned access routes, such as driveways, roads, or bridges ? A temporary housing unit, if approved for the disaster, when you are not able to use rental assistance due to a lack of available housing resources ? Funds for hazard mitigation assistance to help eligible homeowners repair or rebuild stronger, more durable homes ? Funds for other uninsured or under-insured disaster-caused expenses and serious needs o To apply for individual assistance for Helene through FEMA, call (800) 621-3362. Here’s a guide to applying for FEMA aid. o FEMA aid for Hurricane Milton was approved Saturday by President Joe Biden. Gov. Ron DeSantis has already submitted his request to expedite disaster declaration for Hurricane Milton. Here’s what else to know about Milton FEMA aid. o If you were impacted by both Helene and Milton, you’ll need to send in two separate applications. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac: ? Fannie Mae is committed to assisting homeowners and renters affected by disasters. If your home or place of employment was impacted by Hurricane Milton, we can help you navigate the challenging recovery process through disaster recovery counseling at 855-HERE2HELP (855-437-3243). ? If you are a homeowner whose home or place of employment has been impacted by a natural disaster and your mortgage is owned by Freddie Mac, contact your mortgage company right away to discuss your mortgage relief options.
