AITC proposes regulatory framework to address insurance carrier use of third-party data and predictive models, including those utilizing AI. The proposal was submitted to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Third Party Data and Models Task Force. Our proposal introduces an attestation model framework designed to ensure that insurers using AI from third-party providers comply with regulatory guidance as outlined in the Model AI Bulletin. This framework requires insurers to annually attest to their compliance, reinforcing the Task Force’s primary goal: ensuring that insurers remain accountable for adhering to insurance laws and regulations while utilizing third-party data and models. Our proposal also aims to enhance regulatory oversight and protect consumers effectively. We look forward to a robust discussion! The American InsurTech Council was pleased to welcome Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple Sunday morning to AITC's Breakfast Briefing at the National Association of Commissioners Fall meeting in Denver. Commissioner Temple briefed attendees on his department's efforts to utilize AI and data analytics to enhance fraud detection, increased use of AI in property insurance, and the success of Louisiana's Fortified Roof Program. The NAIC is currently looking at third party use of AI and is expected to develop a regulatory framework in the near future.
