Did you know that endometriosis can still affect women even after menopause? For many, menopause brings an expectation of relief from symptoms like pelvic pain and heavy periods. However, for some women, endometriosis symptoms can persist or even arise after menopause. Factors such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and residual endometrial tissue can play a role in continuing symptoms, despite the body’s natural hormonal changes. Understanding how endometriosis behaves beyond reproductive years is essential for providing appropriate care and treatment options. ?? November is Diabetes Awareness Month and we’re excited to share new research in our AIMIS newsletter! This month, we're spotlighting how advancements in diabetes treatments can benefit women’s health beyond blood sugar control. ?? GLP-1 Drugs & Uterine Fibroids Research presented at the ASRM Scientific Congress & Expo reveals that GLP-1 receptor agonists, a class of drugs for managing type 2 diabetes, may reduce the risk of uterine fibroids in women with diabetes. Compared to those using metformin or insulin, GLP-1 users showed a 27% lower risk of developing fibroids over five years. ?? Why It Matters Fibroids, linked to insulin resistance and obesity, can have a substantial impact on women’s health. By lowering both blood sugar and fibroid risk, GLP-1 drugs could offer a powerful, dual benefit. This study adds promising insights into diabetes care, though further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms involved. Join AIMIS and stay informed about innovations that make a difference in women’s health. Check out the full study in our newsletter, and let’s work together to support awareness and advancements in diabetes care! https://lnkd.in/eTnhMZ7m #DiabetesAwarenessMonth #WomensHealth #GLP1 #Fibroids #AIMISUpdates
