关于我们
OUR VISION: We want to live in a world where no one develops a preventable cancer. OUR MISSION: The American Institute for Cancer Research champions the latest and most authoritative scientific research from around the world on cancer prevention and survival through diet, weight and physical activity, so that we can help people make informed lifestyle choices to reduce their cancer risk. We have contributed over $108 million for innovative research conducted at universities, hospitals and research centers across the country. Find evidence-based tools and information for lowering cancer risk, including AICR’s Recommendation for Cancer Prevention, at www.aicr.org. ABOUT THE CONTINUOUS UPDATE PROJECT As the U.S. charity in the World Cancer Research Fund network, we contribute to the Continuous Update Project (CUP), an ongoing analysis of global scientific research into the link between diet, physical activity, weight and cancer. The CUP produces periodic reports on the state of the evidence linking various lifestyle factors to risk of specific cancers. Diet, Nutrition, Physical Activity and Cancer: a Global Perspective, the Third Export Report was published in May of 2018. https://www.aicr.org/cancer-research/dietandcancerreport/

The Global Cancer Update Program database contains over 12,000 papers on cancer prevention and survival, which have been synthesized and critiqued by over 140 scientists from 17 different countries. The CUP Global program analyzes the findings from all the existing research, including the most recent research papers, to assess the strength of the evidence, reach consensus conclusions and, where possible, make recommendations. It’s time for Facts on Friday and today we're looking at low-carb diets. More and more people are asking their cancer specialists if they should be trying a low carb, keto or intermittent fasting diet as part of their cancer treatment. The fact is, we don’t know for sure yet, because the science hasn’t caught up with the practice. These types of diets are designed to lower insulin levels but have not yet demonstrated improvement in cancer-specific outcomes in humans (most studies are in rodents). It’s too soon to recommend these diets as part of routine cancer care, but studies are ongoing. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3jE7BHy

AICR’s Healthy10 Challenge was recently evaluated for efficacy. The results were amazing! We learned that at least 60% of program participants reported following AICR’s New American Plate principle at most meals since completing the Challenge. They reported consuming more cancer-protective plant foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and pulses since completing the Challenge. Sign up for the challenge: https://lnkd.in/gi3EtFFv

NEW BLOG! AICR remains on the cutting edge of cancer research. This month, we investigated the new research on liquid biopsies, which is a method for identifying cancer-related biomarkers in body fluids like blood, saliva or urine. Liquid biopsies allow for cancer detection at earlier stages than traditional screening methods and may lead to more effective and less toxic interventions. Tracking tumor changes over time, oncologists can use liquid biopsies to assess treatment effectiveness or detect cancer relapse. Importantly, they can be performed frequently with minimal discomfort. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/e2H8Cf85
