AHLA Interim President & CEO Kevin Carey joined hotel workers at New York City Hall this morning to rally against the city’s proposed hotel licensing bill. The economic impact of this hastily introduced bill would be felt on every block in every NYC neighborhood, hurting restaurants and retail shops the most – and putting $5 billion in tourism-related tax revenue at risk. ?? Thousands of hotel workers spoke out against a proposed hotel licensing bill during a rally at New York City Hall this morning. The economic toll of this bill will reverberate for years, forcing hotels to lay off hard-working staff, raise rates, and even permanently close. This is not a licensing or safety bill. It’s a government takeover of New York City hotels, and we will not stop fighting until it’s defeated. ?
