Meet Leigha Schrader, a Mechanical Engineering student at Penn State University and current Honda Powersports Design co-op. Growing up with a passion for powersports, Leigha was inspired to join the Honda co-op program to learn how these durable, high-performance Honda vehicles are designed and built. During her time at Honda, she has helped conduct plastic molding research and completed specialized training in product design and technical drawing. Leigha has particularly enjoyed gaining hands-on experience with testing Honda vehicles and exploring the latest cutting-edge technologies.

We’re expanding the use of clean energy globally, as we advance toward our global goal of carbon neutrality for all of our products and corporate activities. Today, we’re announcing that Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has signed its first virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) in Japan, the largest ever VPPA in Hokkaido, for 63 megawatts (MW) of wind power generated by the Rusutsu Wind Power Plant. In North America, we’re nearing our goal of supplying 100% of the electricity we use from carbon-free sources. Our 200 MW VPPA with Samson Solar Energy Center in Texas and 120 MW VPPA with Boiling Springs Wind Farm in Oklahoma help to reduce the CO2 emissions from our U.S. auto manufacturing operations by adding more clean energy into the nation’s electricity grid.
