Today, ID/DD providers from across 16 states gathered on Capitol Hill to advocate for the importance of Medicaid-funded care for individuals with disabilities. With ICFs relying almost entirely on Medicaid—and facing a 16% decline in the last decade—protecting this essential funding is more critical than ever. AHCA/NCAL urges Congress to safeguard Medicaid and ensure continued access to care for our most vulnerable populations.

Provider assessments have been a cornerstone of Medicaid funding for over 40 years, following strict federal oversight. States operate within the established rules, and CMS audits and approves these programs every step of the way. Reducing or eliminating them could have devastating consequences—fewer staff resources, more facility closures, and an even greater strain on access to care. We will continue advocating for solutions that support providers and those they serve. Let’s make sure Congress knows the facts and protects critical Medicaid funding.
