关于我们
American Geotechnical & Environmental Services (A.G.E.S.), Inc. is a qualified Small Business and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) specialized in providing geotechnical design services. The company headquarters are located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania with branch offices in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and McLean, Virginia. A.G.E.S., Inc. has grown to be one of the largest specialty geotechnical consultants in northeastern United States with a strong focus on providing geotechnical engineering services on public infrastructure projects. The majority of our geotechnical investigations and reports have been completed in accordance with DOT design manuals and we are familiar with FHWA and AASHTO design requirements. We have provided geotechnical design services for over $11 billion of construction, with over 250 multi-lane miles of interstate and highways and more than 2,500 bridges ranging from new multi-span dual structures to the rehabilitation of single-span bridges. Our projects have been performed in extremely varied geology resulting in a wide variety of geotechnical hazards, including deep and shallow mining, industrial / contaminated sites, thick glacial soils, steeply dipping bedrock, indurated clays with low shear strength, active solutioning, poorly defined rock / saprolite, acid rock drainage, and coastal plains deposits. We have a strong understanding for project schedule and cost, with innovative solutions for minimizing construction cost and time. The company employs a staff capable of efficient design and large workload, and provides effective recommendations for subsurface investigations that maximize cost savings and reduce uncertainty and risk. We understand the importance of communicating geotechnical concerns to the entire project team in order to allow for proper use in overall design, and pride ourselves in our ability to address complex geotechnical issues while working with both owners and specialty geotechnical contractors

What a fantastic experience at the American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) Western Region Meeting on January 10, 2025, at Cefalo's Banquet Center in Carnegie, PA! Kanwal “KP” Chopra, Mark Styler, Ph.D., P.E., Suresh Gutta, Ph.D., P.E., and Sebastian Lobo-Guerrero, Ph.D., P.E., D.GE., representing American Geotechnical & Environmental Services, Inc. at this packed-house event. The buffet lunch, beautifully organized by ACEC/PA, was delicious, and the networking opportunities were invaluable. The event's highlight was the exceptional presentation by Kevin Scheurich, P.E., Assistant Chief Engineer of Design for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. Kevin delivered a thought-provoking talk on Diversity, drawing insightful parallels from his vacation experience in Costa Rica. His unique perspective underscored the importance of embracing diversity in both our personal and professional lives. Kudos to the organizers for creating such an engaging and inclusive event, and thank you to everyone who participated. Looking forward to more opportunities to connect, learn, and grow as a community!

Last month, the Route 28 (Centreville Road) Widening project was the recipient of an Engineering Excellence Merit Award at the ACEC Metropolitan Washington EEA Gala at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. American Geotechnical & Environmental Services, Inc. provided geotechnical design and construction consultation services as a subconsultant to Dewberry, with construction performed by Shirley Contracting Company, LLC. The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) project widened two (2) miles of Route 28 from four (4) to six (6) lanes with additional turn lanes to improve intersections and reduce congestion. The project included the construction of shared-use paths, improvements to stormwater management, sound barrier walls, retaining walls, overhead sign structure, and underground detention vaults. The corridor currently serves over 65,000 vehicles per day and is a major commuter route. The $56.9 million design-build project was awarded in May 2020 and reached final completion in the fall of 2024. Additional funding and support were provided by the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority. Adam Marolf, M.S., P.E., BC.GE and Vishal Patel, P.E., M.S. of A.G.E.S., Inc. accepted the award on behalf of the project team and owner.
