关于我们
AGU is a global community supporting more than half a million advocates and professionals in Earth and space sciences. Through broad and inclusive partnerships, AGU aims to advance discovery and solution science that accelerate knowledge and create solutions that are ethical, unbiased and respectful of communities and their values. Our programs include serving as a scholarly publisher, convening virtual and in-person events and providing career support. We live our values in everything we do, such as our net zero energy renovated building in Washington, D.C. and our Ethics and Equity Center, which fosters a diverse and inclusive geoscience community to ensure responsible conduct. AGU was established in 1919 by the National Research Council and operated as an unincorporated affiliate of the National Academy of Sciences for more than 50 years. We were independently incorporated in 1972.

We're so glad U.S. Climate Alliance had a wonderful experience at our net zero conference center! AGU’s net zero energy renovated building offers state-of-the-art meeting and conference spaces, as well as informal gathering and workspace for anyone interested in renting the facilities. We would love to have you! Our facilities are available to rent here: https://lnkd.in/gkdEbkeY
???? Our natural and working lands (NWLs) — from farmlands and grasslands to freshwater wetlands and more — play a critical role in protecting against the growing impacts of climate change. In fact, NWLs offset approximately 12% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across Alliance states and territories.? ? Efforts to quantify and model how NWLs sequester and store these emissions are essential to tracking, evaluating, and sharing progress towards critical climate goals. This week, we convened representatives from 17 states and territories and experts from the research and NGO communities to highlight innovative, cutting-edge approaches to quantifying and modeling greenhouse gas emissions and sequestration.? ? A special thank you to all participants, partners, and sponsors for learning from one another and engaging in these important conversations.?? ?? ??The learning lab took place at the American Geophysical Union headquarters, the site of Washington, D.C.’s first net zero energy commercial building renovation.? ?
