It’s National Ag Week, and we’re taking a moment to appreciate the critical role agriculture plays in our daily lives. Not only is it the backbone of food production, but it supports millions of jobs in farming, forestry, food processing, and more. Thank you to the farmers, ranchers, and foresters who work tirelessly to ensure that food and natural resources are available today and in the future!

Before a single tree is harvested, a well-planned road must be built. Steve MacDonald, Forester and Real Estate Associate Broker in Milford, ME, documented the landscape changes for road construction on a client’s property. After determining the best location for the road, an excavator cleared the land and constructed the road. Since winter is often an ideal time to harvest in the Northeast and Lake States, a contractor recently harvested trees on the property. The frozen ground and compacted snow make it easier for the road to support loaded log trucks and ensure safe operations. Well-built forestry roads are essential for efficient, sustainable land management. By carefully planning and overseeing road construction, we help ensure safe access, protect natural resources, and support responsible harvesting.

On a client property in Screven County, Georgia, AFM tree planting contractors planted 116 acres of longleaf pine seedlings in one day thanks to previous site prep! Mark Edwards, Forest Technician and Real Estate Agent in Statesboro, Georgia, shared that the Georgia Forestry Commission successfully conducted a prescribed understory burn on nearly 250 acres on the same site. These management efforts will help maximize income for straw raking and promote wildlife habitat. All in a good day’s work. ??
