We’re working together with our customers and communities to create the future of energy.
关于我们
At American Electric Power, we provide more than electricity to our millions of customers – we energize possibilities. We’re redefining the future of energy by reducing our carbon footprint, empowering the communities we serve and developing the workforce for the future. All while delivering the reliable and affordable service our customers expect. We remain committed to a clean energy future and are shifting to a more balanced generation mix. We’ve cut our carbon dioxide emissions significantly since 2000 and continue to expand our renewable energy sources, while encouraging electrification to lessen our environmental footprint. AEP is on track to reach an 80% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from 2005 levels by 2030 and is working to achieve net zero by 2045. AEP owns and operates the largest transmission system in the country, and our distribution networks provide power to homes and businesses in 11 states. We continue to invest billions in our infrastructure to deploy cutting edge technologies that support the clean energy transition and enhance service for our customers. Our employees power everything we do, which is why we’re focused on hiring and retaining top talent, reimagining the future of work and offering competitive pay and benefits. Diversity, equity and inclusion are cornerstones of our company culture, and we continually seek out new skills and perspectives that spark innovation. We strive to do more than keep the lights on – AEP is passionate about being a force for good in the communities where we live and work. Our commitment to building stronger, more vibrant communities extends beyond volunteerism and philanthropy. AEP’s focus on economic development in our service territory helps deliver more jobs, tax revenue and opportunity. Together with our customers and communities, we’re building a new, brighter future.

Today, AEP announced key organizational changes aimed at empowering local operations and increasing value for our customers and stakeholders. As customer needs evolve, these changes will help us improve service and drive growth in the communities we serve. “This new leadership and organizational structure is part of our effort to streamline the company, shift decision making and accountability closer to customers, and align our support organizations to ensure our businesses have the appropriate resources to enhance value for all of our stakeholders,” said Bill Fehrman, AEP president and CEO.

AEP Ohio has filed a settlement to support the rapidly growing data center industry while ensuring protections for all customers. “Ohio’s economic success in bringing data centers to our state comes with immense demands for electricity, and we have to meet those efficiently and responsibly,” said Marc Reitter, president and COO of AEP Ohio. “Our goal throughout this process has been to provide customers with protections, while keeping Ohio an attractive place to run and grow a business. This proposal provides that balance and was developed with PUCO staff and consumer advocates.” The staff of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel, the Ohio Energy Group (OEG), Ohio Partners for Affordable Energy, and Walmart joined AEP Ohio in the filing.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a collective effort was launched to rebuild and repair infrastructure and restore power. The storm left 409,000 customers of Appalachian Power, AEP Ohio and Kentucky Power without electricity. Nearly 10,000 personnel were mobilized, including line workers, tree and support personnel, and damage assessors. They dedicated more than one million hours to repair the damage and restore power safely.

Crews from across our service territory have been working tirelessly to restore power for customers in Appalachian Power, Kentucky Power and AEP Ohio communities. They've encountered thousands of spans of fallen wire, uprooted trees, flooding, and many other hazards in the field while restoring power. We're grateful for each and every member of our teams and the long hours they've put in to safely restore power in the wake of Helene.
