The AERA LIves of Teachers SIG? Invites Nominations for the? Michael?Huberman?Award?for Outstanding Scholarship The Michael?Huberman?Award?is an AREA-sanctioned honor for which nominations are sought by December 13, 2024. The?Huberman?Award?is a highly prestigious?award?and signature undertaking of the Lives of Teachers SIG.??The?Award?is presented biennially to a scholar of unquestionable reputation for contributions to research on teachers’ lives.?The?Huberman?Award?Scholar delivers a lecture at an AERA session allocated for this purpose and is recognized by an engraved plaque presented as part of a special session and receives an honorarium.? Those eligible for the AERA 2025 Michael?Huberman?Award?must exhibit outstanding scholarship that contributes to the Lives of Teachers community of teachers and scholars that: 1 - Furthers understanding of the rich complexity and diversity of teachers’ lives, including as it relates to race, class, ethnicity, and geographic region.? 2 - Captures teachers’ perspectives and teachers’ voices in a socio–historical and professional context; 3 - Transcends national boundaries in scope, relevance, and applicability.? Seeks to identify and? highlight the unique qualities that characterize the teaching profession; 4 - Has been disseminated through publications, presentations and other collegial activities that promote interest in the study of the lives of teachers. The?Huberman?Award?Scholar is selected through a rigorous process conducted by the Huberman Award Committee. To date, the?Huberman?Award?has been given to the following scholars: Ivor Goodson, University of Brighton (UK) (2005) Robert Bullough, Jr.,??Brigham Young University (US) (2007)? Christopher Day, University of Nottingham (UK) (2011) D. Maria Assun??o Flores, University of Minho (Portugal) (2023) Eligibility:? All scholars of teachers’ work may be nominated. Self nominations are not allowed AERA and Lives of Teachers SIG membership are not required. The recipient must be able to participate in the 2025 Annual Meeting of AERA and to give a lecture, related to Lives of Teachers, at the LOT SIG awards ceremony.
