American Crystal is owned by 2,750 shareholders/growers who raise approximately one-third of the nation’s sugarbeet acreage in the Red River Valley of Minnesota and North Dakota. As the largest beet sugar producer in the United States, the company produces and sells about 15 percent of America’s finest quality sugar. American Crystal operates sugar factories in Crookston, East Grand Forks, and Moorhead, Minnesota; Drayton and Hillsboro, North Dakota. Happy harvest! We love being part of these communities!
Beet Harvest in the Red River Valley has commenced! As a farmer’s wife, harvest time hits different. Snack cabinets are filled. Coffee machine set: 12:30 AM. Prayers lifted for safety and cool weather. Hopes that everyone shows up for their shift. 24/hr runtime is brutal, exhilarating, and fast-paced. In town, we feel a shift. Office staff are taking PTO to fill a truck seat. Service shops are open extended hours. A new sense of caution with increased road traffic. It’s an entire culture that disrupts everyday life. And yet, it’s a time we look forward to all year. Here’s to the farmer who stays past shift to ensure everything is a go. Here’s to the field hands who power through the breakdowns and long days. Here’s to the farming families who sacrifice birthdays and sporting events. Here’s to the wives preparing meals and bathtime alone. Here’s to the kids fast asleep when dad gets home. Here’s to the small towns imprinted by agriculture. We’re all in it together. Here’s to the harvest ?? #farmingfamilies #agriculture #sugarbeets
