Amid Looming 200% Tariffs: Major Sparkling Wine Exporters' Dependency on the U.S. Market, 2023 The U.S. is by far the most important export market for France and Italy, the world's largest sparkling wine exporters. It accounts for 18.7% of France's sparkling wine export value and 22.2% of Italy's.

Little known: Imports from the European Union account for nearly two-thirds of U.S. sparkling wine consumption by volume (even more by value). U.S. sparkling wine imports from Italy alone far exceed domestic production (122.6m vs. 101.1m liters). Against the backdrop of looming 200% import tariffs on EU wines, changes in the sparkling wine market will be massive.
