As our new Chief Customer Officer, Heather Garboden will oversee the newly created Customer Experience (CX) organization, built to enhance every aspect of the customer journey from start to finish. From booking a trip and boarding the plane to relaxing in flight and providing post-trip feedback, American’s new CX team is all about the customer. Heather brings more than two decades of airline experience, including time in Revenue Management, Finance, Cargo and our Regional operation, making her the perfect person to ensure our customers have a seamless travel experience.

As we shift to a longer-term approach of supporting the families and loved ones of those lost on Flight 5342, we have established the Office of Continued Care and Outreach. Jim Carter, who spent more than 40 years with American before retiring in 2023, is returning to lead this work as Vice President of Care and Continuity. Jim has been instrumental in our response to this accident, and he also played a critical role in supporting team members and loved ones following Flights 11 and 77 on Sept. 11, 2001, and Flight 587 on Nov. 12, 2001. We are grateful to have Jim’s leadership during this difficult time. The role and responsibilities of the office will evolve over time, but it will always be focused on ensuring we live out our purpose of caring for people on life’s journey while doing all we can to care for those directly affected by this tragedy. Welcome back to the #AATeam, Jim.

We’re honored to have partnered with Scottish Rite for Children to send 12 incredible young amputees to a ski therapy camp in Crested Butte, Colorado, for the 42nd Annual Amputee Ski Trip! With the support of our amazing #AATeam volunteers from the Abilities Employee Resource Group, we ensured their send-off was filled with excitement, encouragement and endless smiles. We’re proud to continue this beautiful tradition, celebrating resilience, adventure and the power of community year after year. ????
