My latest insight for the American Action Forum delves into the evolution of AI regulation under the Biden Administration. With Congress failing to pass comprehensive AI legislation, the administration relied on agency-level initiatives to address key issues. At the same time, a diverse patchwork of state regulations emerged, which would likely fill gaps but also introduce complexity and costs for the AI industry. As the Trump Administration takes office, will the focus shift to a unified federal law to streamline AI governance, or will a sector-specific, decentralized strategy shape the next chapter?

Did you know that nuclear energy has been generating about 20% of electricity in America? After being stagnant for the past 30 years, it is gaining renewed interest from U.S. lawmakers and private companies. In my first piece published with the American Action Forum, I discuss the latest legislative developments and private-sector investments in nuclear power, the main factors driving the recent momentum toward this source of clean energy, and the key issues to watch for going forward. Key Takeaways: 1. the construction of new nuclear reactors has been stalled for the past three decades, nuclear energy still offers a cost-effective, clean, and reliable source of power – and with rising energy costs and a demand for clean energy, nuclear is seeing renewed interest from lawmakers and industry leaders. 2. There recently has been unprecedented business investment in nuclear, as large technology companies invest in nuclear reactors with improved safety and lower costs; moreover, there has been movement on the legislative front to lower the upstart costs of constructing new nuclear energy facilities. 3. The successful implementation of the bipartisan Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced Nuclear for Clean Energy Act of 2024 is important for ensuring the timely development and deployment of the new generation of nuclear technologies, which are likely to be safer, more efficient, and have fewer limitations, with advancements in fuel sources, cooling methods, and reactor size. Give it a read if you would like to learn about the latest developments in U.S. nuclear energy! #nuclearenergy #SMR #smallmodularreactors

In my latest for American Action Forum, I explore AI market dominance and the growing antitrust concerns surrounding Nvidia. The DOJ has launched an investigation spurred by claims that Nvidia may be using its market power to promote the exclusive use of its AI chips and services. With the acquisition of RunAI raising further questions about competition, regulators are intensifying their focus. As federal agencies increase scrutiny in AI markets, it's crucial that Congress oversees this process to ensure the focus remains on harmful practices.
