In honor of Election Day????, AMOA is shining a spotlight on a future political candidate and current anti-bullying advocate, Mr. Jonathan Jackson of "No Fear with Jonathan" ???????????! Mr. Jonathan is an 8th grader at Hosana Christian Academy??! Also, he plans to enroll at UHigh. For college, he plans to attend LSU where he will major in Math with a minor in Political Science. He mentions, "One day, I would like to run for political office and become one of the future mayors of Baton Rouge. But right now, I want to inspire my peers and younger kids to conquer their fears with my non-profit "No Fear with Jonathan???." Instead of trick or treating with his friends, Mr. Jonathan decided to spend his Halloween at La Salle Elementary School??. He explained, "Before my family and I went to Hallelujah night at my church, I decided to have fun visiting my old school to motivate everyone to have the courage to face their fears." Being a speaker at the event was a truly remarkable experience as Mr. Jonathan exclaimed: "Even as I get older, I still have some things I fear, but I face these things with confidence. That's why I think it was important to go back to my former school to see how the kids there face their fears, because this is where it all began for me...the bullying." He continued, "When I experienced being bullied in the 3rd grade, I felt unseen, unheard, and unnoticed. After feeling this way, I felt that no kid should have to experience how I was feeling which made me want to come back to La Salle and talk to the younger kids about my story. It meant a lot to also hear their stories about conquering their fears, too." To Mr. Jonathan's surprise??, there were adults who waited in line to share with him their fears. While speaking with the parents of the children, the adults also were given a "No Fear with Jonathan???" sticker, which they all proudly wore! Their interaction with this 13 year old speaker, advocate, and youth leader left an indeliable mark upon Mr. Jonathan that he will not soon forget because, "It made me feel honored to see grown ups listen to me speak." Additionally, Mr. Jonathan offers a word of encouragement to his fellow peers and for adults who don't feel brave??? enough to face their fears??: "I would tell them to "fear not," to "have faith" and "fear is just apart of their imagination." As a young servant leader of today??, Mr. Jonathan said: "October is national anti-bullying month. So, I feel honored to be recognized for how far I have come from being bullied in 3rd grade?? to now at the age of 13 representing No Fear with Jonathan???at the same school where it all began! It feels great to see my hard work be recognized and for AMOA???? to call me a servant leader??!" Congratulations Mr. Jonathan???! #servantleader #fearless #servantleadership #beadifferencemaker #PositiveRoleModels #youthempowerment #courage #Election2024 #ElectionDay

In celebration of Liberty Magnet Highschool's Homecoming, the America, My Oyster Association is highlighting the Powerhouse of the South's Mr. Aaron Jordan??????! Mr. Jordan??is in the 10th grade and he wants to attend LSU where he plans to major in Computer Engineering with a minor in Music (Music Production). Mr. Jordan mentions, "I selected the tenor saxophone, because I love listening to jazz music?? and saxophone solos. Also, I joined the Liberty marching band in order to meet new people and to learn how to play an instrument??." Also, he never imagined that he would be, "awarded the band member of the year award, it made me proud, grateful, and a bit surprised, since I was not expecting it at all??!" Moreover, Mr. Jordan recollects a very trying experience that he recently endured and also triumphantly overcame, "The greatest challenge I faced in the band was learning how to read music AND when I had to miss several days of school during and after my major back surgery." Mrs. Jordan mentions, "Once Aaron was able to manage his pain, he worked really hard to catch up on all of his school work by taking one subject at a time, beginning with his core subjects. Since this was his first time in band, while he was recovering, he took the initiative to learn how to read music more efficiently. Also, he completed all of the band assignments that Mr. Gregory assigned him and participated in fundraisers." Mr. Jordan explains, "The greatest success I achieved in the band was over time being able to learn songs more easily. At first, this was very difficult, since I was new to it. Although, I didn’t know how to read music, I was a fast learner and I have been progressing ever since!" Despite missing the majority of his freshman year, he mentions, "What kept me inspired to meet my marching band's expectations was my band director and band members. I did not want to let the other band members down. So, I continued to practice, participate, and contribute even when I was in pain." Also, Mr. Jordan offers a word of encouragement to his fellow band members?? and peers across America ????: "I would tell them to remember the reason why they started in the first place and that the long term benefits will be worth ALL the hard work they've done. Also, they should always practice and keep going!" As an AMOA young servant leader of today, Mr. Jordan feels the need "to continue trying harder to become an even better servant leader. I am grateful for this opportunity and have learned valuable knowledge about being a servant leader ????. I will continue learning more, making an impact, and working on ways to serve and impact my community!" Mr. Jordan braved through major back surgery and motivated the "Powerhouse of the South" along the way??????!
