Welcome to the Manufacturing USA family! The new institute, SMART USA (Semiconductor Manufacturing and Advanced Research with Twins USA), will focus on efforts to develop, validate, and use digital twins to improve domestic semiconductor design, manufacturing, advanced packaging, assembly, and test processes. SMART USA will join the Manufacturing USA network of seventeen institutes designed to increase U.S. manufacturing competitiveness and promote a robust R&D infrastructure.

During Fall #TRX, members of the America Makes team were able to tour the Polysonic Wind Tunnel, part of the University of Arizona's Research Center for Hypersonics, focused on advancing the science of #hypersonic flight. The wind tunnels blast air at high speeds (Mach 0-Mach 5) past fixed objects, helping researchers understand how objects, such as aircraft and missiles, behave in flight.
