关于我们
America’s VetDogs? began in 2003 as a project of the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind to consolidate and increase our outreach to veterans of all eras. In 2006, it became a separate 501(c)(3) corporation. VetDogs provides guide dogs for veterans who are blind; service dogs for those with other physical disabilities; physical and occupational therapy dogs to work with amputees in military and VA hospitals; and combat stress control dogs to be deployed in theater. All of our services are provided at no cost to veterans, and our funding comes from the generous contributions of individuals, corporations, foundations, businesses, and service and fraternal clubs. For a veteran with a serious limb injury, amputation, or traumatic brain injury, a service dog can provide stability support climbing up and down stairs or getting in and out of a chair, and can be trained to fetch and retrieve specific items, e.g., medication, a wallet, or a phone. For veterans with seizure disorder, dogs can be trained to alert for seizure response.

Honoring the Life and Legacy of MSG Dillon. ? Dillon was more than a facility dog. He was a beacon of comfort, strength, and unwavering support at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Since 2019, he touched the lives of countless active duty service members, veterans, families, and staff, offering companionship and care during their most challenging moments. When we asked Dillon’s handler what made him truly special, she shared that he loved his work wholeheartedly and greeted those he served with the sloppiest, most joyful kisses. His legacy of love and devotion will never be forgotten.

Last week, Chief Marketing Officer Mike Rosen represented America’s VetDogs at the inaugural in-person meeting of the Face The Fight Coalition, held at USAA Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. Face the Fight, an initiative of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, was launched in June 2023 to unite corporations, foundations, nonprofits, academia, and veteran-focused organizations in the fight against veteran suicide. With founding partners including USAA, the Humana Foundation, and Reach Resilience, the coalition is dedicated to breaking the stigma around mental health, improving access to care, and funding programs that provide military-specific suicide interventions.

Welcome to the Air National Guard Readiness Center, Second Lieutenant Bailey! ???? Bailey joins SGT Cleo as a facility dog at Joint Base Andrews, providing animal-assisted therapy to personnel. Together, they make their rounds throughout the week, promoting wellness and stress management in a demanding work environment. Their presence brings comfort, connection, and a sense of calm to those who serve. Bailey’s enlistment ceremony was made even more special with a visit from local facility dogs Sully H.W. Bush, Charlie, and Bond. We are proud to see Bailey take on this important role. ?
