We are building a powerful community of the most inspiring youth-supporting organizations.

关于我们

America’s Promise Alliance was founded in 1997 by five U.S. Presidents and General Colin Powell. After a quarter century, America’s Promise Alliance is at a pivotal and exciting stage in its evolution, launching a comprehensive next chapter and new strategy. Our Alliance is a community of the leading non-profits working in K-12 education, postsecondary to workforce pathways, and democracy and civic engagement. All member organizations enroll their CEO and executive teams in our community. Over the last two years, 100 organizations and 500+ leaders have joined us in this effort. We add annual value to these organizations by helping them improve, through an integrated model of leadership development, knowledge sharing, and capacity building. Senior leaders of our member organizations build trust, relationships and the habits for working together and consistently reinforce the practical benefits of sharing and collaboration across organizations. We then use the “culture of the collective” in our community to ideate, design and launch multi-organization collaborations, focused on opportunities in our issue areas that are too large or too complex for any one organization to address on its own.

  • The Andrew Goodman Foundation (AGF) works to make young voices and votes a powerful force in democracy. They support youth leadership development, voting accessibility, and social justice initiatives on campuses across the country with mini-grants to select institutions of higher learning and other financial assistance to student leaders. AGF was founded in 1966 by Robert and Carolyn?Goodman?to carry on the spirit and the purpose of their son, civil rights freedom fighter,?Andrew?Goodman, who was murdered by the Ku Klux Klan alongside James Earl Chaney and Michael Schwerner during Freedom Summer 1964 campaign to register African American voters in Mississippi. ? Last year, AGF celebrated the 60th Anniversary of Freedom Summer 1964. The?Andrew?Goodman?Foundation continues their legacy by empowering young leaders to carry forward the fight for equality, justice, and democracy. Additionally, they recently celebrated 10th Anniversary of their flagship program, Vote Everywhere. This initiative was launched by?Andrew’s brother David and his wife, Sylvia?Goodman, in the wake of Shelby County v. Holder’s impact on the Voting Rights Act.?Today, Vote Everywhere partners with America’s colleges and universities to provide resources, visibility, and mentoring to a national network of student leaders who involve their peers in participatory democracy through long-term voter engagement and public policy initiatives.? ? This year, AGF launched their inaugural Living the Legacy Scholarship for high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, a commitment to civic engagement, and a passion for making a difference in their communities.?Each recipient will receive financial support for their educational pursuits and gain access to AGF’s resources, including mentorship opportunities and a network of civic leaders dedicated to advancing democracy and social change. ? Rashawn Davis, Executive Director of The?Andrew?Goodman?Foundation shares: "The?Andrew?Goodman?Foundation is proud to join America's Promise Alliance in a shared commitment to empowering young people and strengthening civic engagement. At AGF, we believe that when organizations come together to exchange knowledge, collaborate, and tackle challenges collectively, we can create a more just and inclusive democracy. Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for nonprofit leaders. Back in October, during America's Promise Alliance ‘s Home Week, I had the privilege of guiding a session to help mission-driven professionals pause, breathe, and reconnect. These are the people working every day to support Youth-serving nonprofits, and I’m grateful to offer a practice that helps sustain their leadership. I’m excited to return next week to continue this work with their team, reinforcing the importance of renewal in service. At Seed & Soul Wellness, I create spaces where people can slow down, reconnect with their purpose, and cultivate inner peace. Mindfulness isn’t just personal. It is essential for those who pour into others, especially in nonprofit spaces dedicated to service. Sustainable impact begins with leaders who feel grounded, present, and well. Thank you to America’s Promise Alliance for welcoming me once again and for recognizing the role of mindfulness in strengthening nonprofit leadership. Lets continue the conversation and reflect. How are you making space for your own renewal? www.yogasihnuu.com #MindfulLeadership #WellbeingInService #SeedAndSoul

  • ?? AI is everywhere ?? In a conversation that’s typically dominated by adults, what do young people think? Our newly published State of Young People research found that AI adoption among young people remains low—just 31% use AI at least once a week; and experiences with AI in education are inconsistent—some receive instruction, while others attend schools where AI is completely banned. ???? As AI continues to reshape the lives of our next generation, young people are actively interrogating the role it ought to play in their futures.? It’s essential that the organizations and institutions that serve all young people come together to: ?? Advocate for increased AI policy guidelines? ?? Provide direct support to teachers, schools, and young people as they navigate the influence of AI on student learning.? • Beginning with Children was founded more than three decades ago on the deep belief in the power of education to transform a child, a family and a community. Beginning with Children services support students from historically under-resourced communities in Brooklyn, providing youth with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to reach back into their communities and create change for the next generation of learners. What started in 1990 as a single groundbreaking public-private school collaboration in Williamsburg, Brooklyn has now expanded into a thriving network of two K-8 schools, a high school, and the Legacy Network, which supports students and alumni on their journeys to college and careers. With a focus on strategic initiatives and innovation, Beginning with Children has recently launched two new programs: the Board Leaders Fellowship, which is a training program empowering alumni of BwC schools and programs to become board leaders, and a community arts initiative, allowing Beginning with Children to maximize its impact in the broader Brooklyn community. At each stage, Beginning with Children programs equip students with the skills, experiences, and confidence needed to lead choice-filled lives. By transforming educational and career outcomes for children, Beginning with Children seeks to break the enduring cycle of poverty. “Our name is synonymous with the services we provide in the communities we serve. Beginning with children guides the work we do every day, and the affirmation of our approach is clear in the continuity of our success,” says CEO, Nancy Lewson Kurz. Since inception, Beginning with Children has served 4,500+ students through educational programs and 2,000+ students through college and career readiness programs. In 2024, Beginning with Children was honored to receive a $1 million gift from the Yield Giving Open Call, managed by Lever for Change, recognizing Beginning with Children’s work in historically under-resourced communities and commitment to creating pathways for educational and economic mobility. CEO and Chairman, Nancy Lewson Kurz, shares: "We are honored and excited to join America’s Promise Alliance. Through this partnership, we look forward to collaborating with fellow changemakers to create stronger, more inclusive communities where all young people can thrive." Please join us in welcoming Nancy and the Beginning with Children team to America’s Promise Alliance!?Learn more about their work at https://lnkd.in/eK2Z6WDg
