C.A.R.I.N.G. for Our Communities is a core part of the Ameresco culture. All year round, we find ways to support the communities in which we live and work, as well as those in need across the globe. Over the past month, we participated in two companywide initiatives. We held a Socktober collection event to support local families as socks are one of the most needed items in shelters. We also collected for Treats for Troops, an annual event at Ameresco through the Soldiers' Angels organization, to collect and send Halloween candy to deployed service members and veterans. Our HQ in Framingham collected nearly 55 pounds of candy this year. Thank you to those who participated in these collections. Our UK team recently led an engaging career day for engineering students from the Queen Mary University of London to share valuable experience and insights about their professional journeys. The International Energy Agency (IEA)’s latest report highlights exciting growth in global energy sector jobs, which rose by 3.8% in 2023—adding 2.5 million new roles worldwide and outpacing broader economic trends. A $200 billion increase in #cleantech manufacturing investment powered this surge, with #solar PV leading the charge, adding over 500,000 jobs, while electric vehicle and battery production created 410,000 roles. In emerging markets, which represent 60% of the global labor force but have seen only 25% of clean energy job growth, we’re working to make an impact. Through meaningful projects like the Kūpono Solar venture in Hawaii and Republic Services' Keller Canyon landfill gas-to-energy plant in California, we’re not only delivering clean energy but also creating sustainable jobs and supporting local economies. By investing in #workforce development and skills training, Ameresco is working to bridge the talent gap and advance a cleaner, more resilient energy future. It’s America Recycles Day!?? A day to recognize the vital role recycling plays in conserving natural resources, saving energy, and reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. At Ameresco, recycling is integrated into many of our projects -- from recycling old lighting fixtures in our City of Memphis Streetlighting project with Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) to the sustainable deconstruction project for the City of Boulder that achieved nearly 90% waste diversion by recycling materials from a demolished building. Recycling not only benefits our environment but also creates jobs and boosts the economy. Have some other innovative examples of recycling? We’re proud to announce our latest collaboration with UC Irvine and its health system, UCI Health, to help power the nation’s first all-electric, zero-emission medical campus with the acute care hospital set to open in 2025. By installing solar PV arrays atop the new parking structures, this asset will generate over 2.3 million kWh of clean energy in the first year, aligning with the UCI Health commitment to clean energy and modeling environmental stewardship. This initiative represents a major step forward in the integration of renewable energy in healthcare, setting a new benchmark for sustainability and operational efficiency in medical facilities.
