Coach Kari Muma Hemingway says her team is the light that keeps her going during the dark moments of life. In 2022, everything changed when she was diagnosed with blood cancer. Since then, she's leaned on her players and volleyball community for motivation. Kari and her team, Apex 14u Blue of Decatur, Illinois, recently participated in the 2024 AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships. It was Kari's last tournament as a full-time coach, as she's decided to step away for her health and to spend more time with family. Read more about Kari's story here: https://lnkd.in/ebrWyK3u

The 51st AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships kicked off on Thursday, June 13! This year, the world's largest volleyball tournament features: 🏐 5,865 teams 🏐 117,000+ athletes and coaches 🏐 256 courts 🏐 Estimated economic impact of $760 million based on 300,000 est. attendees The girls’ tournament, with divisions from 10U through 18U, will be up first from June 13-28. The boys’ tournament, with divisions from 12U to 18U, will take the courts from June 30 – July 7. The initials “LB” could be seen on every jersey of the girls seventh grade Reach Elite basketball team at the 2024 AAU Memorial Day Classic.   The special patch was a way to honor Lisa Brown, one of the team's biggest supporters, who passed away following a battle with breast cancer in August of last year.
