When Sam Bauman joined Amarillo Gear as a CNC machinist, he was still a student finding his footing in the world of machining. Fast forward a little over a year, and Sam's a key player, recently promoted to machine programmer. It’s no surprise he was recently featured on Amarillo College’s website for his achievements. Originally from Oregon, Sam’s path to machining wasn’t exactly linear. He first enrolled in Amarillo College’s welding program, but a CAD modeling assignment in a machining class changed everything. With encouragement from his advisor, Sam switched gears to focus on machining. Employers, including Amarillo Gear, often visited the classes, and it wasn’t long before Samuel joined our team. About nine months into his machining career, we offered to train and promote him to a machine programmer. He’s done an impressive job and is a valued member of our team working with more than 50+ machines, We’re proud to have Sam as part of the Amarillo Gear family and can’t wait to see where his career takes him next. Employees like Sam remind us why investing in our team is the best decision we can make.
