Improving quality of life for Texas Panhandle residents
关于我们
The Amarillo Area Foundation was established in 1957 by a group of visionary leaders. It is the only community foundation serving the northernmost 26 counties of Texas. The Foundation provides grants and services to strengthen nonprofit organizations and the services they deliver to Panhandle communities. An overarching goal is to find new and better ways to link the generosity of Panhandle philanthropists to the most effective charitable nonprofit organizations. The Foundation is a publicly supported philanthropic institution that is governed by a board of private citizens

Incredible group of nonprofit executives at the Collaborative Lab sponsored by Amarillo Area Foundation today. I presented “Building Capacity through Collaboration” and saw firsthand why Amarillo is one of the most collaborative communities I've worked with in Texas. #capacitybuilding #nonprofiteducation

We are so proud of the Panhandle Community Partnership Officer & Strategic Initiatives Assistant, Kimberly Anderson, for sitting on a panel at Philanthropy Southwest Conference last week. The panel was focused on creating pathways to careers in rural areas. This is a topic that is near and dear to Kimberly, and she told the story of how our area is collaborating for future generations.

We are honored and excited to have been selected by the?Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas?for their Broadband Buildout Initiative! All residents of the Texas Panhandle deserve access to reliable, affordable broadband and the devices and education to use effectively.
Reliable access to high-speed internet is critical for education, health care and economic opportunity. It’s something every community needs to thrive, but building out the infrastructure can be particularly challenging for rural areas. This week, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas added four communities to our Broadband Buildout Initiative, offering support to get their broadband infrastructure projects to completion. Already the Dallas Fed’s advancing digital inclusion work has helped participants identify more than $72 million in infrastructure funding, with plans to lay fiber to more than 100,000 disconnected homes. Congratulations to our new partners. They have laid the groundwork by building regional collaborations and working with their neighbors on broadband plans. The Dallas Fed’s role is to connect the participants to technology experts, potential funding sources and other support they will need for success. Amarillo Area Foundation’s Panhandle Connected aims to ensure all students in the region have access to low-cost high-speed internet and devices. East Texas Council of Governments will select a project to serve as a replicable model for completing a broadband buildout. Permian Connected will develop a roadmap to connect rural populations. El Paso Community Foundation’s Borderplex Connect will develop a masterplan for digital inclusion throughout West Texas and southern New Mexico. WOW! We are so humbled by the work of Garrison Brothers Distillery and their Panhandle Proud fundraising effort for the Panhandle Disaster Relief Fund. There are a lot of incredible partners that made this happen. Thank you, III Forks Prime Steakhouse, William Chris Vineyards, Texas Distilled Spirits Association, and Texas Whiskey Association. Thank you from our Panhandle neighbors who are still building back! These dollars will help continue that effort!
