What better way to learn about the educational landscape within a community than to ask students? That’s exactly what the Leadership North Fulton Class of 2025 did yesterday by interviewing a panel of impressive Fulton County Schools students from area high schools and including our very own 8th graders Aazeen and David. The high school students shared their experiences in programs such as IB and at FCS Innovation Academy and were intrigued hearing about Amana’s EL Education experience from our 8th graders, especially the fieldwork aspect. Everyone answered questions authentically and shared how they manage life as a student, their visions for themselves, and their gratitude for the love & support the adults in their lives have shown them. Students getting this type of exposure to leaders in their community boosts their agency as they navigate their futures. We’re sure that the leaders got something out of it too, as they influence decisions that may impact the #1 factor in driving economic development: high quality schools. Many thanks to Samantha Maxey for offering this opportunity to all the students! We are deeply grateful to the incredible volunteers from American Honda Motor Company, Inc. who dedicated their time and effort to help our 8th graders build a shelter for someone experiencing homelessness. Your hands-on support not only provided our students with valuable learning experiences but also empowered them to make a real impact in the community. In addition, thank you for hosting a booth at our ChangeMaker Faire! Your involvement truly brought the spirit of innovation and community engagement to life, inspiring our students to continue making positive change in the world. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we look forward to future collaborations. Thank you for being such an essential part of our mission to create thoughtful, compassionate leaders! ?????? #ThankYou #CommunityImpact #Volunteers #ChangeMakerFaire #AmericanHondaMotorCompany #AmanaAcademy #SocialGood #MakingADifference Fulton County Schools EL Education Georgia Charter Schools Association

?? Transforming Discipline Through Restorative Practices! ?? I had the incredible opportunity to attend the MetroRESA Restorative Practices Workshop, and it was a powerful reminder of why restorative solutions are essential—especially in education. Instead of relying on punitive measures that isolate and disconnect, restorative practices focus on accountability, healing, and relationship-building. By creating spaces for open dialogue and meaningful resolution, we foster stronger, more inclusive communities where students feel valued and empowered. This workshop provided practical strategies—such as proactive circles, restorative conferencing, and conflict resolution techniques—that I’m excited to implement at Amana Academy Charter Schools in my role as Dean of Students. These resources will be invaluable in shaping a positive school culture, strengthening student relationships, and ensuring that discipline is a learning opportunity rather than just a consequence. A huge thank you to MetroRESA and the amazing facilitators for such an insightful and transformative session! I look forward to applying these practices and advocating for restorative solutions over punitive responses. #RestorativePractices #MetroRESA #AmanaAcademy

On Wednesday, Amana Academy Charter Schools' 8th graders joined the Georgia Charter Schools Association for the Charter Advocacy Day at the Capitol. I loved seeing our students passionately speak about their experience of attending a charter school and the important role Amana's courses, teachers, opportunities, and friendships have played in their lives so far. Thank you GCSA for including us in the day, and for guiding our students through the democratic process to deeper their learning. EL Education

We are so grateful to Sartain Lanier Family Foundation for supporting the growth and sustainability of our West Atlanta campus with an unrestricted grant. Thank you for trusting us to provide the best possible public education for students in metro-Atlanta. We are glad to do this work with you!
This week and always, I’m inspired by people who dedicate themselves every day to supporting kids - doing the hard, often unnoticed work with heart and determination. Improving public education isn’t easy; it takes time, teamwork, and persistence. To everyone who keeps showing up - thank you.

Today, students from both of our campuses had the honor of serving as ambassadors at the 2024 EL Education national Conference in Atlanta. They were greeters during the opening plenary and shared information about their expeditions in the Exploration Hall. They were poised and confident as they spoke to conference goers about everything from finding solutions for deforestation to building mobile apps to help people in need find shelter and resources. During a break in the activities they got to walk to lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy some down time. It was fun seeing them interact with their peers from another school that still has the same routines and traditions. At the end of the day, we circled up and did the Amana chant before boarding the bus back to school. They were all shining stars and represented Amana well. Principals Helené Brown and Amy Bryson have a lot to be proud of! Today we had the privilege of hosting EL Education National Conference attendees for a Pre-Conference Site Visit. Visitors from around the country and across the globe joined us to learn all about our Expeditionary STEM program and how they can implement #STEM into their learning expeditions. Participants were immersed in STEM classes where they got to work with AI and coding technology with an eye toward building a better world. Our student docents were so poised and knowledgeable - one of the participants said, “My docent could run the world!” ????
