At Alzheimer’s Care Armenia’s Memory Café, hope and learning know no age. Recently, a heartwarming initiative was introduced, English classes for the elderly. Leading the class is Artashes, a retired professor whose passion for learning has been reignited. While Alzheimer’s has made some of the elderly participant’s memories fade, their enthusiasm for learning remains unwavering. Guided by a patient and dedicated teacher, the participants not only learn English but also engage their minds, strengthening memory and cognitive skills. For many, this class is more than just language learning, it’s a chance to connect, laugh, and grow together. This is precisely why ACA believes it’s never too late to embrace new challenges, and this initiative is proof of how the human spirit can continue to thrive. Support Alzheimer’s Care Armenia to bring more life-changing opportunities to those affected by Alzheimer’s. Together, we can make a difference! Alzheimer’s Care Armenia (ACA) brings hope and connection to Anna and Hagop at the Memory Cafe in Gyumri, Armenia. ACA's team psychologist, Armenuhi, recognizes the significance of memory games beyond just recalling numbers. These activities aim to uphold dignity, enhance focus, and foster meaningful connections. For Anna and Hagop, engaging in these games offers a chance to stimulate their minds, revive lost memories, and experience a sense of empowerment, even if briefly. Alzheimer's Care Armenia is excited to share that our Brain Health Armenia Project is featured as a case study on the Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative Blueprint website! Our project was the first nationwide early detection memory screening and Alzheimer's disease training program in collaboration with the The Armenian EyeCare Project. Our multidisciplinary healthcare team traveled across urban and rural regions of Armenia adminsitering the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Test (MoCA) and provided follow-up care and educational materials for patients and caregivers. Additionally, it offered certified training for healthcare professionals and educational workshops for families affected by dementia, conducted in polyclinics, hospitals, universities, and healthcare organizations throughout the country. You can review the entire case study here: https://lnkd.in/gND2y2cE The Brain Health Armenia Project screened 4,388 individuals aged 25-93 in 39 villages and towns across six provinces in Armenia. Preliminary results revealed that about 31.22% of participants showed signs of cognitive impairment: 24.75% mild, 5.29% moderate, and 1.18% severe. The project hosted 65 training sessions for 660 primary care physicians and nurses in five provinces, along with 12 caregiver workshops. Finally, the Alzheimer's disease and memory screening training modules received certification from the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Health. Thank you Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative for making this groundbreaking work possible in Armenia!

Exciting news! Our very own Ofelya Kamavosyan has been selected as one of the three finalists for Alzheimer Europe's Anti-Stigma Award 2024. Under the Brain Health Armenia Project, a grantee of #Davosalzheimerscollaborative, the "Second Start Armenia" national radio show was launched in collaboration with Public Radio Armenia to raise awareness about early detection, share success stories on healthy aging, prevention, and provide dementia education. Over 80 shows have aired, featuring individuals with dementia, caregivers, physicians, international experts, and programs for those with memory loss. A proud moment for Alzheimer's Care Armenia! Thank you Alzheimer Europe!
