"Denise and David Swartz are a couple from nearby Hot Springs. David was diagnosed with the disease in 2023 and is currently living in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. Then an opportunity came knocking." —SDPB ?? Listen: https://lnkd.in/g_tuE_mr

Just three years ago, there were no FDA-approved Alzheimer's treatments that could slow the progression of the disease. Today, not only do they exist, but one of those very treatments is being delivered in Fall River County in the Black Hills of West River South Dakota. Dave Swartz is one of the first in the country to receive this type of treatment thanks to some tremendous persistence from his wife, Denise, and the push of advocates with the Alzheimer's Association to fight for research, commitment to a national response to Alzheimer's, and CMS (Medicare and Medicaid) coverage of Alzheimer's treatments. Dave held the blue flower as someone living with Alzheimer's at this year's Black Hills Walk to End Alzheimer's while Denise carried the yellow flower as his care partner. Their fight is our fight and we could not do it without your continued support. Please help reach the goal for the Black Hills Walk to End Alzheimer's with a contribution here: act.alz.org/blackhills. Thank you!
