Our St. Charles County Walk Manager Mary Williams was at Wright City High School recently to present student Matthew Johnston with his Champions medal. Matthew is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) team that participated for the first time in the St. Charles County Walk to End Alzheimer's earlier this fall. The Wright City High FBLA team is currently ranked 9th in the nation for funds raised, while Matthew is ranked 4th among individual participants. Matthew said he does not have a personal connection to Alzheimer's but many of his friends do, and he hopes to inspire others to get involved. What a great example of a future leader!

Please help us welcome our newest Greater Missouri Board Member Joey Blomker. Blomker is a Managing Director at Maryville Consulting Group who has been a member of the St. Louis Walk to End Alzheimer's since 2018, serving as last year's co-chair. He understands first-hand the devastating impacts of Alzheimer's after losing his "PawPaw" in 2005 to the disease: "Alzheimer's took one of my heroes, my PawPaw - Bud Miller. A WWII Navy Vet, a Missouri Amateur Sports Hall of Famer (as a referee and umpire), and a 30+ year vet of the St. Louis City Fire Department. We would sit on his patio listening to Cardinals games on the radio together in the summer, he'd eat the biggest bowls of ice cream you could imagine, and he would always have a dollar bill to hand off as a goodbye. He brought me a love of baseball that I now get to pass along to my son, Joey. He was so much fun. I am excited to join the Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri board of directors and be a part of saving our children from having their heroes taken too early."

We were so thankful to be one of the trusted experts asked to speak at the Missouri Association of Area Agencies on Aging Conference in Springfield. Missouri is in the midst of a historic Master Plan on Aging, and this moment offers an unprecedented opportunity to work together to make Missouri a place where we can all age well. #ENDALZ
