Tweak Traditions to Make this Holiday Season Realistic and Rewarding Dear Carol: I’ve spent decades caring for all the older adults connected to our families. Now, only my father-in-law and my mom remain. They live in separate care facilities, and I visit them nearly every day, bringing them treats, connection, and comfort. I also take them to appointments and manage their medications. I know this is the right thing to do, and for the most part, I’ve been happy to help throughout the years. The problem is, though I’d do it all again, the cumulative weight of family caregiving sometimes kicks over into resentment. The pressure of the upcoming holidays has been making this worse. You’ve been a long-time caregiver. Any tips to help me remember that I have much to be grateful for in my life, including these wonderful older adults?
