Here’s a secret. Marketing is about juggling, and we all drop some balls — intentionally and sometimes accidentally — every so often. I think one of the toughest parts is the up/down nature of the job. Much like sales, even when we’ve made huge strides, we’re measured in weeks/months/quarters, and sometimes sh*t happens. It can feel like we’re failing short term even when when we’re doing all the right things to win long term. We just don’t talk about that as much as we talk about the big wins. In the last couple of weeks I caught and then dropped a lot of balls. Event season, team bandwidth shifts and unexpected challenges combined to demand more advanced juggling than usual (more like an upgrade to fire or knives) ?? and I thought I could catch it all. But I had to solve for an urgent ball I hadn’t intentionally dropped, which was clearly impacting our inbound pipeline flow. I needed to drop more and ask for help. To create uninterrupted troubleshooting time, I cancelled a work trip, cleared my calendar, missed some important meetings, was late to respond to emails and DMs and Slack messages. My boss supported all of it, but I still felt like I was letting people down. We found/fixed the problem — something I had seen signs of for weeks but hadn’t been able to fully uncover while I was in constant motion because it required manual data analysis and a painstaking audit. I also was reminded that: - l’m fortunate to work with a leadership team that’s here to catch me when I need them, and a marketing team that can figure anything out together. We all support each other. Thanks to ?? Katie Penner for taking my place at Adobe Summit this week. Please hug her for me if you're in Vegas. - I need to protect more time to think, diagnose, look for patterns and anomalies, and set up better systems to catch problems before they get bigger. That’s a critical part of my job, but I was so busy juggling that I had lost thinking space. The things we say “no” to are just as important as the balls we choose to keep in the air, but the pressure to catch them all can be overwhelming. I don’t want to model that for my team, and it’s not sustainable. Sorry, I don’t have a clever ending or a neat trick. ?? Asking for help is a strength. I’m still figuring out how to balance the juggling and create more space. I hope this makes others else feel less alone, and gives them the personal permission to drop a few balls. We can’t do it all, and it’s okay to set that expectation so we can do the most important things, better. Thanks to Sam Kuehnle for his genuine post last week that made me feel less alone and helped while I was troubleshooting. We could use more of that here. ?? Please enjoy this footage of me dropping multiple balls and combatting imposter syndrome on the road, from the cozy cocoon of Clay’s beautiful podcast studio in NYC. (Extra thanks to their team for IRL people/puppy hugs when I really needed it.)?

“All publicity is good publicity” is complete bullsh*t. People mistake noise for success. But in B2B SaaS, a bad reputation isn’t just noise, it’s a dealbreaker. I hear it all the time: “Well, people are talking about them, so it must be working.” No. Absolutely not. ?? Our team only works with kind, high-integrity people, teams, and companies. Full stop. ?????????????? ?????????? ???? ?????? ???????????????? ???? ????????????????. 81% of consumers say brand trust is a deciding factor in their purchasing decisions. And in a small world like SaaS, trust spreads fast… but so does a lack of it. One bad experience doesn’t just cost you a deal. It follows you… It gets talked about…. It becomes a warning that echoes. If your approach is to cut corners, stir up drama, or tear others down to boost yourself or your brand, you’re not being bold. You’re being reckless. ?????????? ??????????????. ?????????????????? ??????????????. Attention for the wrong reasons is a short-term play with long-term consequences.

Y'all know I love gifting as a way to break through the outbound noise! ... especially because I prospect into enterprise companies (VPs at this level get 50+ cold calls each week ... and an untold number of emails) So ... gifting is a fantastic way to jump ahead of those keeping to traditional channels. Here's what I've been sending this week ... 1 - Mini Hoop with Mini Basketball 2 - Desk Plants 3 - Artisan Coffee 4 - Bite-Sized Brownies Shoutout to Sendoso for making gifting so easy!

Chris Derullieux, one of our awesome customers @ Gong, pulled the receipts: 64% of his closed-won revenue in a 30-day period came from... ?? gifting! And the ROI? 1,833x. ?? But Gong’s success with gifting doesn’t stop there: ?? 400+ new opportunities from a single campaign ?? Tens of millions in influenced pipeline Chris gets it. Gong gets it. Do you? ?? Gifting is CREEPY. It doesn’t work ??♂? Everyone has heard that line. Looked back at my deals for 30 day period and 64% of my closed-won revenue came from.... ?? drum roll ?? Gifting. Here's why it works: 1. You CANT copy + paste a gift. Each gift is personal. 2. You can't blast 500 gifts. You can blast 500 emails. 3. You can't send gifts randomly. You but you can make random cold calls. (k you can send gifts randomly, but you're wasting money. gift cards gotta go) ?Intentional ? gifting works. AND all of my gifts were $20-30. Which netted ~1833x ROI. Pretty good investment tbh. LMK - has gifting worked for you? P.S. if you can make it punny, thats like the cherry on top ??
