Last week, the Alvine Capital team gathered in the beautiful Three Valleys, France, for our offsite. With our team often on the move, it was a rare and valuable opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and align on the next phase of Alvine's growth.

In the latest episode of the Alvine Talks podcast, Thomas Raber of Alvine Capital and Aoifinn Devitt, member of Alvine's Advisory Board and ex-CIO of London CIV, speak with?Bo Almar Knudsen, CEO and Global Equity Portfolio Manager at C WorldWide Asset Management. Bo has worked in portfolio management since 1989, marking the start of a distinguished career in global equities. For five years he was a global portfolio manager with Danske Capital in Copenhagen and ultimately held the position as Head of International Equity Investments. From 1994 to 1998 he worked as a portfolio manager with C WorldWide and after three years as Executive Director and Head of Equities with Nordea Investment Management, he re-joined C WorldWide where he has remained ever since. Our conversation begins with Bo's upbringing in rural Denmark, his path into finance and motivation to see the world. We discuss his approach to stock picking, the merit in taking a long-term view and CWW’s disciplined focus on high conviction portfolio construction. From here we cover the challenges of the everchanging geopolitical environment before our discussion concludes with his life outside of investing and how this influences his role at CWW. Family offices are important sources of growth and innovation in the private markets landscape. Private equity has gained prominence in family office portfolios in recent years, increasing from 22 per cent in 2021 to 30 per cent in 2023 according to Deloitte. These family offices often have the flexibility to explore niche investment ideas and take advantage of high-growth opportunities outside of bulge-bracket mega funds. As they increasingly embrace secondary markets and specialized sectors to generate long-term value, family offices remain important innovators in private markets investing. Aviva Investors have published their latest Private Markets Study, surveying institutional investors from Europe, North America and Asia on their attitudes towards private markets. The study found that more than half of the 500 institutions surveyed expected to increase their allocation to private markets over the next two years. European investors – including those in the UK – were the most likely to want to invest more, with 57% saying they will increase allocations.
