He is a self-described pillar of his community, having owned and operated businesses and participated in local politics for the past 44 years. Outwardly, Jerry was successful--a self-made millionaire. But the more success he attained, the angrier he felt. He knew this wasn’t right. After seeking professional help from therapists and psychiatrists since 1986, Jerry found MDMA-assisted therapy in 2019 at the age of 61. This is his story.

It's $96.5M, to be exact. But what's a couple million among friends? Money raised is often a vanity metric, the starting line. In this interview I reflect on launching Redox into a large, established, market with a clear problem and vision for how we would solve it. Then, compare to althea, PBC discovering the emerging space of regulated psychedelics, a space so nascent we don't even call it a market yet. One of the things I've found most interesting about working in the world of psychedelics is the near universal aversion to calling it an "industry" or "market." If you've had a powerful psychedelic experience, you can probably relate to the feelings of oneness and interconnectivity they can manifest--seemingly antithetical to competition and capitalism. Yet, that's the world we find ourselves in. In my first contribution to Boulder Weekly, I explore the industry that is being created in Colorado. We voted to create a regulated pathway, here's how it's shaping up.
