The Healthcare Value Hub is excited to present the redesigned 2024 Health Care Affordability Policy Snapshot and the accompanying Affordability Dashboard, tools designed to empower legislators, consumer advocates, and policymakers with a comprehensive view of state-level health care affordability policies. This new resource replaces the former Scorecard, offering a broader scope that includes not only familiar affordability policies but also new additions to address today’s health care challenges. During this webinar, participants will be introduced to the Affordability Snapshot, which provides a comparative analysis of health care policies across all 50 states and DC. The Dashboard offers an interactive experience, making it easy to explore state data, track the implementation of affordability measures, and find resources for further action. Attendees will learn how to leverage these tools to research specific healthcare access and affordability policies at the state-level. Whether you are a healthcare advocate, researcher, or policymaker, this webinar will equip you with the knowledge and tools to better understand health care affordability policies in your state. Recent high growth rates in spending on home health care, accompanied by somewhat lower growth in nursing home care, has led us to explore spending patterns over the past two decades in these two components of post-acute care and long-term services and supports. We show that overall spending growth, overall utilization growth, and per-capita utilization growth since 2000 have all been considerably higher for home care than for nursing home care. For example, per-capita growth in utilization of home care from 2000 through 2023 increased by 165.0%, while per-capita use of nursing home care grew by just 2.3%, while nursing home prices increased twice as fast as home care prices during the same period. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ASTP/ONC) offer the Security Risk Assessment (SRA) Tool, maintained by Altarum, to guide small and medium-sized provider practices and organizations in their efforts to assess security risks. The tool is designed to help organizations conduct a security risk assessment as required by the HIPAA Security Rule. For practices of all specialties – medical, dental, ophthalmology, and more – the tool has a user-friendly interface, integrated built-in reference tools for all HIPAA standards and ePHI safeguards, and a?software wizard that uses?branching logic to guide users through each step of the process. To learn more, Altarum offers two opportunities to attend a webinar created for teams at small and medium-sized practices to get an introduction to the SRA Tool.?Registration is limited to 3,000 participants for each presentation.
