While 2023 saw a record-breaking number of TCG cards graded, sports cards have reclaimed the lion's share in 2024. In August 2023, PSA graded more than 576,000 TCG and non-sport cards, representing nearly half of their total output. In June 2024, TCG cards graded by PSA fell below 400K for the first time in nearly a year despite the company grading more than 1.1 million cards in total

In May, Collectors, Certified Collectibles Group (CCG), SGC, and Beckett Collectibles combined to grade more than 1.78 million cards - the most ever in a single month. In Q3/Q4 2023, Trading Card Games (TCG) which include Pokémon cards were responsible for nearly 50% of grading activity as PSA graded more than 536K in the month of September alone. Through the first five months of 2024, sports cards have made a resurgence while TCG declined. In May, sports cards represented more than 60% of all graded items as PSA graded more than 740,000 baseball, basketball and football cards combined.
