This week, we were happy to join government and electricity industry leaders at the Independent Power Producers Society of Alberta IPPSA conference in Banff. Scott Thon, Berkshire Hathaway Energy President and CEO and Cayla Saby, AltaLink Vice President, Government Relations and Commercial, participated in panels to discuss the evolving role of transmission and the future of the electricity market in Alberta. We were proud to engage in these discussions and remain committed to delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective power for Albertans.

When Alberta Environment and Protected Areas told us about a ferruginous hawk nest precariously perched on top of a gravel pile in the County of Warner, we jumped into action! Our environment team and south lines crew successfully relocated the nest to a newly installed nesting platform in a safe location. Ferruginous hawks are an at-risk species and AltaLink is committed to helping their recovery by ensuring there are adequate nesting sites for our feathered friends. We did it again, it’s another record-breaking year for Rogers Communications Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink! Thank you to everyone who helped raise $25.4 million for youth-based charities in Alberta. That’s an increase of more than $6 million from last year and brings the overall total to $137.7 million raised in 12 years. We’re proud to be part of this great program that supports Alberta’s kids and the communities where we live and work. “In 2015, when we launched our partnership as the presenting sponsor of Rogers Birdies for Kids, we couldn’t have imagined the enormous positive impact that this event would have on the lives of thousands of kids across Alberta. We’re incredibly proud to support the almost 300 charities that benefit from the tournament and looking forward to continuing to build on the tournament’s legacy of giving.” - Gary Hart, President and CEO of AltaLink Rogers Charity Classic

Members of our field, control centre, and safety teams were recently treated to a tour of the STARS Calgary base. They met with pilots, the medical team and the emergency response team, and got to check out H145 helicopters that AltaLink helped purchase. We also participated in a medical simulation and visited the STARS Emergency Link Centre. In 2022, AltaLink made a $1.2 million donation to support STARS' Keep the Fight in Flight campaign to help renew their fleet of aging aircraft with nine Airbus H145 helicopters. Service from STARS is crucial to the health and safety of Albertans who live and work in remote areas, including AltaLink crews.
