I mean, this thing goes after your eyes, heart, kidneys—you name it. Brutal, right? TL;DR Alstr?m Syndrome is rare. Like, super rare. Imagine dealing with blindness, hearing loss, heart failure, and more—all before you even hit adulthood. Most people don’t make it to their twenties, but those who do? True fighters. What is Alstr?m Syndrome? Alstr?m Syndrome is not your everyday disorder. It’s a rare genetic condition that touches nearly every organ in the body. First discovered in 1959, fewer than 1,000 people have been diagnosed worldwide. It’s caused by mutations in the ALMS1 gene, which both parents must carry for their child to inherit. The result? A lifetime battle with vision loss, heart disease, diabetes, and more. But here’s the thing—these kids fight like warriors.
